Mr. Lino M. Olopai, Vice President of the Inetnon Åmot Natibu/Ammwelil Safeyal Faluwasch, giving his welcoming remarks, on behalf of the Association's President, Isidoro T. Cabrera (who is off-island) and on behalf of the Inetnon Åmot Natibu/Ammwelil Safeyal Faluwasch. Mr. Olopai commented, "...the question that we, my fellow board members and I, constantly ask ourselves is: What can we do to protect our native herbal medicinal plants in the midst of developments? He continued: "What about our recognized traditional healers, whose knowledge and wisdom cannot be found elsewhere, not even in our school curriculum? How can we protect this knowledge? ...Why is it then that they (traditional healers) are never considered as part of our health service program, knowing the high cost of our hospital?" Mr. Olopai then offered this: "Of course, this will never happen unless we, you and I, our leaderships, administrators, and business communities, change our attitude toward our native healers. Our traditional native healers must be given the recognition and respect they dearly deserve." (Picture taken by Frankie W. Limes.)
